The latest edition of the Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate, 2025) brings very positive news for the University of Defence’s journal Obrana a strategie, published by CSMSS. The journal has now been placed in the third quartile (Q3) in the International Relations category. At the same time, the Impact Factor has risen again, now reaching a value of 0.6.
According to current data, Obrana a strategie ranks 125th out of 169 journals in the International Relations category (26.3 percentile) and 244th out of 322 journals in the Political Science category (24.4 percentile).
The year-on-year increase in the Impact Factor from 0.3 to 0.6 reflects not only the growing number of citations but also the fact that published articles are finding readers and being used within the academic community. We believe this progress will encourage new authors to publish in our journal.
In addition to the Impact Factor, the Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) also shows a positive trend. JCI is used to assess the citation impact of journals across all scientific fields. Unlike the Impact Factor, which calculates the average number of citations per article over the previous two years, JCI normalizes citations by discipline, thus allowing comparisons between journals from different fields. The JCI value for Obrana a strategie in the International Relations category has risen from 5.56 (2021) to the current 17.46 (2024). This increase demonstrates not only that the journal is being cited more frequently, but also that its relevance is growing in comparison with other titles in the field.
We owe this positive development above all to our authors, reviewers, and editorial board, whose expertise, dedication, and cooperation are essential prerequisites for the continued advancement of the journal.
