From October 21 to 23, 2025, the prestigious international conference MESAS 2025 (Modeling and Simulation for Autonomous Systems) will take place at the Multinational Joint Warfare Center (MJWC) in Istanbul. The event will focus on autonomous robotic systems in military environments – their modeling, simulation, and practical application in operational deployment. The conference will serve as a platform for the exchange of expert knowledge among representatives from academia, allied armed forces, and the defense industry.
The Centre for Security and Military Strategic Studies of the University of Defence (CSMSS) is actively involved in organizing the event, represented by Lt. Col. Jiří Novotný, one of the co-organizers. The Department of Military Robotics of the Faculty of Military Technology, University of Defence, also plays a key role in preparations, represented by Assoc. Prof. Jan Mazal, Ph.D. Other key partners include the NATO Modelling and Simulation Centre of Excellence (MS COE), represented by Lt. Col. David Žůrek, and the Institute of Mathematics at Brno University of Technology, led by Assoc. Prof. Petr Vašík, Ph.D.
MESAS 2025 builds on the success of previous years and reflects current trends in automation, the integration of autonomous systems into military structures, and the technological and ethical challenges these innovations entail. Through this involvement, the University of Defence reaffirms its active role in the international scientific research community and contributes to the development of future defence and security technologies.
As is tradition, the conference will conclude with the publication of a peer-reviewed proceedings volume by the renowned publisher Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. This volume will include selected papers presented at the conference and will be indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, ensuring international visibility and scientific relevance.
