The current security environment places increasingly high demands on senior military leaders. In addition to possessing advanced military-strategic expertise, they must also have a thorough understanding of state governance, security policy, and civilian instruments of crisis management. Responding to this need, the University of Defence and CEVRO University have concluded a new implementation agreement that provides the foundation for a joint educational programme.

The partnership links the prestigious General Staff Course with the postgraduate programme Security Policy and the State Security System. This creates a modern, comprehensive lifelong learning opportunity for senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, as well as selected members of the armed forces of partner countries. Graduates of the programme will not only be entitled to use the professional designation of General Staff Officer but will also earn the postgraduate professional degree of Master of Public Administration (MPA).

The inaugural programme cohort will commence in September 2026. Courses will be delivered in Brno and Prague, combining academic knowledge with practical experience in defence and security. An important milestone will be the planned transition of the programme to English from the following academic year, enabling broader participation by international students and strengthening strategic-level international cooperation.

The collaboration between the University of Defence and CEVRO University represents a significant step forward in the development of defence and security education. The new programme brings together military and civilian expertise, creating conditions to develop strategic leaders capable of responding effectively to current and future security challenges.
