Course Overview

The course provides an overview of the security system of the Czech Republic, the structure and tasks of the Czech Armed Forces, and the provision of security and defence at the international level, particularly within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), and other international organizations, including the OECD, V4, and OSCE.

Students will learn the legal aspects of national defence and understand the importance of a whole-of-society approach to national defence, involving cooperation between public administration and civil society. The course places particular emphasis on civic and legal responsibility, support for democratic values, and developing an intrinsic positive motivation for a proactive approach to defence and security issues, including national defence and civil protection.

• 5 days of instruction = 18 hours of lectures + 2 hours of seminars
• Certificate of completion issued upon meeting the attendance requirement

Course Objective

The objective of the course is to highlight the importance of national defence and, above all, promote a proper understanding of this area among course participants, so that upon completion they will have knowledge of the security environment and security system of the Czech Republic, an understanding of the reasons for the Czech Republic’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and other international organizations, as well as basic knowledge of the structure, responsibilities and tasks of the Czech Armed Forces (CAF), including the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic (ACR), and their links to the components of the Integrated Rescue System.

Participants will also gain a broader awareness that national defence and maintaining the Czech Republic’s defence capabilities are not solely the responsibility of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, but of society as a whole. At the same time, they will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to their future teaching practice, thereby helping strengthen the preparedness of the younger generation for the defence of the state.
