On 15 September 2025, the 44th General Staff Course (GSC) and the 71st Senior Officers Course (SOC) were ceremonially opened. Seventeen participants enrolled in the 44th GSC, including three from the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. Fourteen participants from units and institutions of the Ministry of Defence began their studies in the 71st SOC.
The ceremonial opening of the career courses for the new academic year 2025/2026 was attended not only by representatives of the Defence University leadership, headed by Rector-Commander Brigadier General Assoc. Prof. Ing. Jan Farlík, Ph.D., but also by the guarantors of the GSC and SOC: 1st Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Ing. Miroslav Hlaváč and Director of the Defence Policy and Strategy Section, Major General Mgr. Petr Milčický, Ph.D., MSc. Also present was the Director of the Human Resources Management Department of the State Secretary’s Section, JUDr. Jaroslav Daněk.
Lieutenant General Hlaváč officially opened both career courses and subsequently delivered a lecture on the topic Perspectives of the Czech Armed Forces. The following discussion on the subject was moderated by the Director of the Centre for Security and Military Strategic Studies, Assoc. Prof. Ing. Josef Procházka, Ph.D. Lieutenant General Hlaváč answered several interesting questions from course participants, especially from the 44th GSC.
